EspañolAs known, no matter what we buy, there are always different levels of quality in proportion with price. The plastic mold industry in China is flooded with companies of different levels. With more and more start-up companies in recent years, the product requirements on domestic market are becoming more and more strict. Some molds produced by certain domestic mold enterprises are in line with the European and American standards. We all know that export plastic molds are more expensive because the standard is not the same. American plastics industry association (SPIAN-102-78) classify plastic molds into five categories. Each type has its own requirements, and this classification is only applicable to plastic injection molds up to 400 tons.
TYPE 1O1 MOLD
Cycles: One million or more
Description: Built for extremely high production. This is the highest price mold and is made with only the highest quality materials. The requirements are listed in detail as below:
1) detailed mold design materials are required.
(2) the hardness of mold base should be at least BHN280 (HRC 30).
(3) the mold surface (including core and cavity) must be at least 48HRC. For other accessories such as sliders, lifters, wear plates should be of hardened steel.
- the ejector shall have guide parts such as guide bushing and guide pins.
(5) side sliders must be equipped with wear plates.
(6) temperature controller shall be installed on upper mold, lower mold, slide or wherever possible on the plastic mold.
- It is suggested to have erosion resistance treatment done on inserting part or mold plates of cooling water pipes. This will help to prevent the risk of reduced product quality and longer injection cycle because of erosion in the water pipes.
- The mold should be equipped with lock on parting line.
TYPE 102 MOLD
Cycles: Not exceeding one million
Description: Medium to high production mold, good for abrasive materials and/or parts requiring tolerances. This is a high quality, fairly high priced mold. The requirements are as below.
1) detailed mold design materials are required.
(2) the hardness of mold base should be at least BHN280 (HRC30).
(3) the mold surface (including core and cavity) must be at least 48HRC. All other functional accessories should be heat treated.
- install temperature controller on upper mold,lower mold, slider or where possible on the mold
(6) All moulds of this type shall be equipped with a mold parting line locking mechanism
TYPE 103 MOLD
Cycles: Under 500,000
Description: Medium production mold. This is a very popular mold for low to medium production needs. Most common price range. The requirements are listed as below.
1) detailed mold design materials are required.
(2) the hardness of mold base should be at least BHN165 (HRC17).
(3) the mold surface (including core and cavity) must be at least 30HRC. All other functional accessories should be decided as required.
TYPE 104 MOLD
Cycles: Under 100,000
Description: Low production mold. Used only for limited production preferably with non-abrasive materials. Low to moderate price range.

- the hardness of mold basecould be soft steel.
- the core and cavity steel could be aluminium or other soft steel.
- Other components are optional.
TYPE 105 MOLD
Cycles: Not exceeding 500
Description: Prototype only. This mold will be constructed in the least expensive manner possible to produce a very limited quantity of product.
